An audit course is a course that a student offers in excess of the minimum number of credits required for a diploma/degree without participating in the assessment process. Any registered student can audit a particular course with the consent of the lecturer, who will prescribe what course requirements, if any, shall be satisfied by the student. Audit courses shall not be counted for calculating the GPA nor listed in the transcripts. Assessment of Courses

The assessment of student performance in each subject/ course will be based on the following scheme:  40% for continuous assessments and 60% for end semester examination. As stipulated in the rules and regulations of respective degree programme, marks allocation between continuous assessment and the final examination in some degree programmes may be different from the above.

A student is required to obtain at least 50% of marks allocated for both continuous assessments and end semester examination to pass the relevant subject, unless otherwise stated in programme regulations. Any student who obtains less than 50% of marks for each component of a course shall be required to repeat the course and face another examination

Continuous assessment in a course may include one or many of the following: assignments, tutorials, homework, presentations, field work, mid-term examination, quizzes, etc. The Lecturer-in-Charge / Course Coordinator may inform,as indicated in the C1 Form, students at the beginning of the semester  about the types of continuous assessments and allocation of marks among them.   Students are required to submit relevant material of continuous assessment and complete relevant other requirements on/ before deadlines given by the lecturer/ course coordinator and the programme coordinator. Failure to complete continuous assessments on time by the student will lead to receive a fail grade for the course.

End of semester examination of a course will be held at the end of an academic semester as scheduled. Students are required to submit applications to sit the end semester examination of each course with the approval from the relevant lecturer-in-charge / course coordinator.

The maximum number of attempts a student is allowed to sit for an examination in any course is three. If the candidate fails a course in all three attempts, he/she will be considered to have failed the diploma/degree programme and his/her candidature will be terminated.
